The backstrap is great for those shooting USPSA, IDPA or during any competition or qualification. VP9 Backstrap Features Machined from bar stock H02 Brass (Weight is 3 ounces) Ridiculous volumes of high-traction checkering cut into each piece (not cast) for maximum “grip” and control Built-in mount point for factory and Taylor Freelance magwells (typical “tailhook” style) It lowers the center of gravity for better balance, calmer handling and makes the gun less top-heavy Weight and felt recoil are directly related. A lightweight gun can be calmed by adding weight, creating a smoother-shooting, slower-kicking, more neutrally balanced handgun. Brass is best in most situations, but if you carry the gun all day, you will find brass components add weight and are less comfortable for all-day carry.
