Jam eater MagnetA jam eater is a mild insult that is unique to the West Cumbrian towns of Whitehaven & Workington.There has always been a “friendly” rivalry between these 2 towns. Both have strong Rugby League teams and both towns provided workers for the many coal mines in the area. Each town refers to the residents of the other town as Jam eaters, for example: “Thoos a jam eater marra, Yer canna only av jam in thee bait”. Which when translated means “You are so poor my friend that you can only afford to have jam in the sandwiches that you take into work for your packed lunch”. We have 2 different options, The first design feature the local black faced sheep. The second design has jars of jam on it.Cumbria has a unique dialect dating back hundreds of years and many of the words and terms are still general usage today.These magnets look great on a fridge or cooker hood.Dimensions 19cm long 2.5cm wide .4cm deep They make a great talking point.If there any others that you think of or still use today or a phrase that an elderly relative used to use, please message me and I will do my best to make one especially for you.
